Flux School of Human Movement will be hosting the very first TIME TRIAL PARKOUR COMPETITION in conjunction with the Flux Summer Movement Festival July 16.
The Second Annual Flux Summer Movement Festival!
This festival is a celebration and an opportunity to not only participate in Flux’s rich and diverse movement practices but also to think about what movement is really all about. It is also an opportunity to celebrate our student’s physical accomplishments. We want to demonstrate and share with one another the inclusive nature of Flux - the different bodies, the different abilities, the wide range in age. We also want the larger community to understand that a movement centered approach to CrossFit creates a more agile, adaptable and mobile body. In other words, Fluxers lift big weights but they also aren't scared to go beyond the familiar.
This year we will celebrate the peculiar status of Movement, which we see as those actions of the body that often cannot be reduced to either sport or performance but that also do not exclude or dismiss such categories either. Precisely because movement at Flux is done for movement’s sake, and not for any intended audience, the division between art and the everyday is constantly blurred at Flux. The Flux Festival affords an opportunity for everyone to showcase the creative practices of the collective body as it engages in the everyday.
What You Can Expect
Fun Fun Fun! An 800 meter urban obstacle course done as a team; a circus tent for feats of strength; team movement games; CF team events; Parkour Time Trial and Style competition, and much, much more!
JUMP on My Art
In conjunction with the festival we are seeking out an artist who is interested in creating a public piece of art that invites physical play, creative practice and collaboration. Our intention with this public structure is to rupture the typical rhythms of daily life and encourage people to use their everyday surroundings to create physical games and movement puzzles.
